Well, i'm 30 years old and have just been told my blood pressure is way too high, so i need to go on a very low sodium diet to see if it helps.
I went thru the grocery store and looked at the sodium content on everything, and OMG it's a wonder we're not all dead yet!
So, i need some great low sodium recipes. Particularly interested in marinades and salad dressings/dips. Processed food is now on my "do not eat" list, so i'd like some homemade substitutes.

I've been low-sodium for a while and once I actually took the time to add up the salt and fat in a simple "fat-free" deli-turkey sandwich I was making at home, thinking it was healthy. Added up the bread, meat, cheese, mayo, etc. Absolutely incredible. Might as well have gotten a Big Mac. Low sodium (as in just not using much out of the shaker or for cooking) is hard to do all at once. Once you get used to it though, vegetables in particular taste better when not covered up by salt. Dill, lemon juice, pepper, hot sauce or peppers and stuff like that are good helpers. The problem is that some of the things you used to like, or the way some people season the food, you often feel like you're gagging down a bowl of salt.

The american heart association has a low sodium cookbook. Be prepared that it might not help with hypertension.
Also, search on DASH diet, it is reported to be effective. How high is your pressure?
