In another thread I was talking about my bike, a very old Specialized Stumpjumper, and about replacing it with something newer. The thing is, I really miss the bike that I had before that. It was a cheap off brand but it had a chromo frame, a long wheelbase, and only a front shock. That bike was so comfortable to ride and really fun on the trails. The Stumpjumper is a lot twitchier, great for technical stuff like a slow climb up a rocky trail, but I've never felt as confident on it as I did its predecessor.
Every time I've looked, there's really nothing in chromo frames anymore that isn't really expensive! Is there anything that I'm overlooking? I've tried riding newer Al frame bikes, but they still feel stiff to me.
