  1. Interesting product:

    Low-carb wrappers of lettuce
    January 11, 2006

Lettuce Jammers Wraps stand up to cold or hot fillings. They're slightly
sweet and crunchy. And, of course, they are almost carbohydrate-free.
    (Seminis Vegetables)

When the low-carb trend was hot, wrapping foods in lettuces instead of
carb-heavy bread was all the rage. For those who have continued with the
no-bread trend, there's a new lettuce product for wraps. Look for Lettuce
Jammers Wraps at local Meijer's stores. According to the companies that
produce them, these lettuce wraps are durable enough to hold hot or cold
fillings. They are a cross between iceberg and Romaine lettuces (they look
more like Romaine); they are prewashed and come in a boat shape.

The wrappers have a slightly sweet taste along with a crispy, crunchy
texture when you bite into them.

Within our bag, we found some of the lettuce boats torn and unusable as a
    wrap. (Just toss the ripped ones in a salad.) The wraps worked just fine;
they are a good resource for wrappers who don't want to deal with a whole
    head of lettuce.

Each 8-ounce package is about $2.89 and has a range of sizes with the
smallest ones (about 2 inches) meant to be used for dipping in place of
    chips.

  2. Yes, an interesting product. I wonder if it will survive. Lettuces seems
so "weak" as a product for this purpose. I would try them if I happened
    upon them, though.
