  1. I'm looking to get into to cycling as a sport to keep me healthy without damaging my knees or ankles rather than jogging. I figure cycling would be the best avenue, plus I live a great area with lots of scenery.

I've never owned a serious bike...but I'm familiar with several brands as I have been a casual follower of professional cycling. Trek, Cervelo, Pinarello, Giant, Colnago, Marin....or maybe Schwinn, Raliegh or Hoffy? :-)

All kidding aside, obviously some I mentioned are very high end and $$$. I'm looking for a decent bike in a range of about $1500 that I would be happy with for a few years.

Any advice would be much appreciated. I live in Laguna Beach, CA if that helps direct me to a LBS.

    Thanks!

P.S. I'm about 6'5"...mostly legs if that helps.
