Maybe too late for you but I have just ordered a merckx mxm after testing Peter van Petergem's Lotto Domo world cup bike at my LBS. There is still lots of road feel on rough rodes but somehow it doesn't pass throuth your body. Another rider said that you are more aware of the bumps than a trek 5900 but it still absorbs the vibrations and it handles better. I certainly felt immediately confident with the handling and it felt direct and stiff and it gave me the comfort I'm looking for and although you don't get that kick back from the drive train when you up the power with carbon it certainly felt light and responsive and for me the style and finish is certainly better than the trek and also better than the colnago and it has a rarity value. Can't wait for it to arrive.
