Quoted message said:I'm going to be in Seattle (near the University) for two weeks in July
and am looking for a recommendation where I can rent a road bike. I
did a search on the web and there are many but I'm not sure which
one(s) is in the vicinity where I'll be or which might be better than
the other. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Cascade's site will have much of the resources you need:
Rental information here: http://www.cascade.org/Community/rental.cfm. Dane's
right, the Montlake shop is close to the U-District, also All About Bike and
Ski, Bicycle Center, and Ti Cycles. But Recycled Cycles is the closest,
right next to the University, and just off of the Burke-Gilman trail.
Personally, I like the folks at Ti Cycles (say hi to Brian for me) or
Recycled Cycles the best of these, since you asked.
Maps and routes: http://www.cascade.org/Community/maps_routes.cfm. The City
and the County will mail you free maps or you can down load them --
information for these are off of links from this page.
Daily club rides, if you'd like to join us:

The big STP ride is in July, and starts from the U-District. If you're in
the vicinity July 15, look for about 9000 bikes that morning around the U.
If I weren't riding in it, I'd frankly sleep in and ride late in day on that
date.
If you have specific questions about riding in the Seattle area, try the
message boards here: http://www.cascade.org/Community/forum/index.cfm
Hope this helps.
