My girlfriend's Look PP357 pedals have a bit of binding in the rotation, almost as if they had been contaminated by dirt or sand. I'm trying to remove the axle to inspect the bearings. The lockring however, is made of plastic and is impossible to properly grasp with pliers or vice grips. Does anyone know how I can remove this lockring to inspect the axle and the bearings?

There is a special tool available from Look. You can put in over the lockring and then use a 36mm spanner to loosen the nut. Shouldn't cost much, Roseversand.de has them for 2.80 euros.
