I am very keen to start road racing. I have been out on training rides with a racing club - I am 30 - I don't have a licence but am keen to get fitter by doing some novice racing. Am based in London. What is the easiest way of getting involved? - do I have to apply for a licence or are ther novice races that I can enter without one? - what is the best way forward?

The best way to start may be to ride some criteriums on a closed circuit. There are at least 3 circuits in London; Hillingdon in the West, Eastway in the East and Crystal Palace in the South. I reckon you probably need a BCF licence for most races.Take a look at http://www.londoncyclesport.com/calendar.html for more info.
Good luck!
