[font=Arial]I am going into my second year with a local team last year I was ask to join and did so mid year ..i purchased my shorts and jersey at cost. Should I expect a free kit this year or is cost the standard for a local club? what does your local team offer?[/font]

Usually unless your team is very rich or you are very good (like a cat 1/2 getting results) you have to buy your own kit. The team generally gets a price break for not only buying in bulk, but also for putting the name of the manufacturer on the kit somewhere, so its not necessarily as expensive as buying full price, but its still not cheap.
I only know of one team around here that fully subsidizes team kits. -
If your membership dues are $120 you might get a kit for free. If your dues are $20 you will probably have to buy your own kit.

I'm a cynic. If you can benefit your team $120 or whatever a kit costs, then the kit should be free. If you cannot benefit your team the kit cost, then you need to pay for it (that is how you "benefit" the team). Cost is a good price. Do you know what it takes to do a uniform order?
