My Smart Lights are no more. It is quite surprising the effect a simple
short can have when you are connected to a SLA battery.
Sitting in my tent at York faffing, move the bar bag and there is a
fizzing noise and puffs of white smoke. At first I thought it was chalk
dust from a burst in the airbed, but th eflames licking around the
lamps soon gave the lie to that. Pulled out the battery cord, flames
went out, but I have burned out a substantial (5cm) length of flex.
Lucky it was on teh ground and not inside the tent.
I suppose everything will fail eventually, hopefully not in such a
dramatic style. I'll have to wield a screwdriver at it and see how much
is redeemable. Otherwise it could be time for some new lights.
