I was on a solid split routine, each body part getting hit every 4 days. I've lifted weights ever since 1998, but I haven't lifted weighs in the gym really since September.
I am going to go back to the gym though. Now shall I jump right back into what I was doing (as in same split/exercise not same weight/intensity), or do I have to go back to a beginner routine 3X per week each body part for 3 months?

Neither.
Work your way back up to your previous intensity and volume over a couple of weeks.

Or longer. I'd actually recommend working out 5 or 6 times the first week back but do VERY LITTLE volume and intensity each workout. The second week I would drop the frequency and up the total volume and intensity. Continue on the third week with your normal routine but only increase the volume and intensity a reasonable amount over the previous week.
