1. Hello guys,

    In the last year I face a phenomenon that i cannot explain.

    I ride the hardest - legs stop me way before HR raises to the upper numbers;

    2 years ago when worked hard, reached 185 HR - I'm now even faster than then but legs require relief at lower HR (altough I ride hard and as said, faster than 2 years back, I hardly pass 170 HR)

    Today I worked pretty hard on a 1:10 hr climb and the highest HR was 168 (only) ..

    I can go to more details if needed, but first, if any of you has faced something similar and can explain it, I'll be happy to hear

    Thanks,

  2. I don't think you should worry about it. Remember that the goal of cycling is not to maximize your heart rate, it is to maximize your speed or power.

    Thanks, it's not that I worry - just Curious to understand that.. 🙂

  4. That's not a surprise. As you get fitter, your maximum heart rate will usually drop.

    Your heart gets more efficient so it can deliver more blood (and oxygen) with a fewer number of beats. It's the same reason that your resting heart rate drops as you get fitter.
