Lefty ELO for - yes/no ?!

What "problems" with the Lefty ELO? Mine's been fine.. the only thing I can think of you might have heard about is that to do any service of significance on it, you need special tools.

Do you need to do too often periodical maintenance at LBS or home ?!
Have you had any 'faults' while using it for competitive XC rides. ?!
is there any special scheduled maintenance or replacement to some parts ( compare to Rock Shox for Instance) for the Saclpel Lefty ELO.

Yeah, I think the scheduled maintenance interval is every 40 hours of riding time, and consists mainly of re-lubricating the roller bearings and internals. I'm not sure if it can be done by the end-user, I end up taking it into the bike shop anyway as I know them well and don't charge me much for it.

As far as I'm aware, there are no consumable parts that get replaced in a routine service (except for maybe the fork boot if it's damaged.) You can download the Lefty manual from Cannondale's web site; it has all the details as to what sort of maintenance needs doing when.

The maintenance is important, otherwise you might end up needing to get the shock cartridge rebuilt with new bearings etc. The firstowner of the bike I bought messed up the old Fatty fork that was on it by skimping on maintenance. The lockout ended up having a bit of play and the bearings were noisy through their travel. I never bothered to get it rebuilt; not because of the cost of the work that needed to be done, but because I found the Lefty at a great price, so opted to upgrade instead 🙂

I have never had a fault with the fork, but then again I've only had it for about 6 months so far. With the extra travel over my old fork (100mm vs 80mm), I run it a little plusher than normal.. having the ELO right at your fingertips means that you end up using the lockout a lot for the hills, so you don't need to compromise as much between efficiency and comfort.

I don't have experience with other high-end forks, but I would suspect that they all need regular maintenance. But I think with some other fork brands, you can do all this yourself (?)
