Anyone had trouble with their M-HID light-sets? My Edison-10's just blown up (stopped working - fortunately at the start of a commute, so I wasn't stranded in the dark)
The HIDs only have lifetime of c400-500 cycles, but mine was only a year old (just under actualy, so hopeuflly will get replaced under guarantee) wasn't used in the summer, so I reckon it's only been on 200 times tops, probably closer to half that.
The lesson seems to be: carry a spare. Checking out the Lupine website, the Edison is no longer the King, LEDs rule the roost now with the Lupine Betty 12. Burn times seem far greater, brightness is almost doubled! and I'm assuming they're much more reliable without the ballast/bulb issues the Edison encounters.
Any experience/comments good or bad with the Edison or Betty?

I haven't used your model, but I've yet to go a year without some issue from an HID. First problem was the bulb blowing out after about 2 months. Next was an issue with the battery pack. After that the light would occasionally cut out after a certain period of time that kept getting shorter until it was useless. I gave up on that model (Topeak Moonshine HID) and got a Trailtech 30W HID. After a couple months it stopped firing up the first time I pressed the switch and it has been getting increasingly stubborn. It takes me about 5-10 minutes of switching on and off to get it going now, but at least it stays on for the full hour I need (knock on wood). I love the amount of light, but I'll be going back to LED when the Trailtech finally refuses to start at all.

I've been using a 12 watt HID Trailtech light for about two years now. It stays on my bike all the time, even during daytime rides, it's still running reliably. I use LiPo batteries bought off eBay. I don't use a switch, I just connect two plugs together and generally leave the light on for the full duration of the ride, switches tend to be the cause of most problems and the less connections in a circuit the better. I get about 3 hours out of a 3.5 amp.hour 11.1 volt LiPo battery.

When I press the switch, I can hear the ballast doing it's rapid fire clicking trying to spark the light, so the switch seems to be working. I think the ballast is defective, but I don't have a spare to experiment with.
