On Saturday I went into Ben Hayward cycles in Cambridge to
get some new brake blocks for my racer (a Trek 1000). They
said they'd need to see the bike to be sure I got the right
type of block for the calipers (I'm not familiar with these
having always had cantilevers or V brakes on all the other
bikes I've owned in the last 13 years).
I took the bike in (it was parked in the underground bike
park) and let them have a look. They weren't sure if the
block would fit the Shimano mounts (it's the kind where you
replace the rubber and it's held in place with a little
screw) so they offered to fit the front set there and then,
even though the shop was quite busy. They also noticed the
front wheel was slightly out of true so do that as well,
all F.O.C.
10/10 for service.
