  1. Hi,I have a 7 mth old Lapierre s lite and whilst inspecting it I noticed 2 cracks just above bottom bracket.Send photos to bike shop and they reckon it might be just the paint that is cracked but are waiting for reply from manafacturer.Has any one expierienced anything like this.crack is larger on drivetrain side.😠

  2. First, you should post piccies of the crack. Second, ignore any advice you get here and follow what the manufacturer suggests. If the manufacturer says the cracks are only in the paint and the bike is still under warrantee for defects in workmanship, you should consider asking for or pushing for a new frame.

That said, cracks in paint do happen on some CF bikes.

I was also going to suggest that the problem is possibly the paint ...

I had a much older, steel frame whose top tube appeared to have developed a 2+ inch long crack ...

Other than magnafluxing the frame (if alloy), the way to find out if it is cracked is to scrape the paint away -- your frame is probably under warranty, so don't do this!

I scraped away the paint and there was no crack in the tubing on my particular frame ... the top tube's paint needed to be repainted, but knowing is better than not knowing.

Have the dealer inspect the frame.
