Yes. He's planting the subliminal message that he will not try to gain time on Luz Ardiden tomorrow, which might even be true.

The intersting thing as fas as I am concerned is that he is talking about next year. It would be more in character for him to use tunnel vision focus during the next few days. That could mean any number of things but all good for his fans. It is almost as if he truly does think he knows why he is doing so poorly. I wonder if there will ever be a "tell all" after his career is over because whatever becomes known about him can't be used against him in a sporting context.
