I was just using an (admittedly more striking) example of offensive racism
(Historical fact, BTW), to try to make the point that seems to be utterly lost
on so many people.
ALL racism is offensive, not just that directed at other people.

In your mind, Bill, yes, because you, like so many others, see nothing shameful
at poking fun at the French, but get all indignant when people poke fun at
Americans.
MILLIONS died in the two invasions Leno joked about (including a lot of
Americans). True, it was a long time ago, but you are like so many, you set
yourself up as some sort of God who can say (It's OK to poke fun at these people
and their tragedy, but you can't poke fun at these.)
It's simple hypocracy, and the sooner you stop deluding yourself that it isn't,
the better.
