Yesterday I saw a Giant Lafree electric-assist bike. It was all shiny and new and locked up with the flimsiest of cable locks. The Lafree comes with an Axa "nurse's lock" fitted but that hadn't been engaged. I know they are not normal-looking bikes but they still cost nearly a grand and it seems silly to take such chances, especially when engaging the nurse's lock would have at least prevented it being ridden off by a chancer. Of course it could have been an insurance job waiting to happen.
