  1. Has anyone had success using L-Carnitine?

I would like to use it, not to lose weight, rather to combat tiredeness.

It can't combat "tiredness" unless you are also doing the obvious
    things:

1 - adequate sleep (8+ hours a night, regular hours)
2 - adequate diet (you know the drill)
    3 - regular moderate exercise

Martin. The 19 basic Aminos acids are ESSENTIAL!
Oddly enough the lowly cucumber has them all in a balanced form.
I persoanlly LOVE "veggie" sandwiches ( with multi-grain breads)
Cucumbers are a part of same. Also a GOOD vitamin/mineral supplement
such as Solgar-75 is a good idea at 3 per day minimum. If you KNOW
    your
Vitamins and their relationship to minerals..(.such as VIT -C being the
    MASTER
catalyser for ALL foods) then so much the better. "NOW" is a GOOD
    brand with
which to acquaint yourself! Wheatsville.Sun Harvest associates
    NATIONWIDE
are great places to shop to get the MOST for your money! B-0b1

Their are more than 19 basic Amino Acids...each has its niche and when

combined with eachother in an endless chain, there are thousands of
    additive
possibilities. Those possibilities BTW add up to the HUMAN
    Bodies...both Male
and female. aint Biology an hoot?? B-0b1

If you could manage to take all 19 of the BASIC Amino-Acids...you would

have the ingredientss for ALL ACTIVE Amino's in your body as they do
"combine" to make ALL needed...or just eat a few Cucunbers..LOL! B-0b1
