  1. I've just ordered a new Orbea Onix which comes with Shimano R550. I have wanted some Kyserium Elites for some time and wondered if anyone had any thoughts?

  2. i have heard that ksyriums are much stiffer than shimano's. i have an aluminum bike with ksyriums, and a carbon fiber with shimano. because of this, i can't truly say which is the stiffer rim set. but looking at the rims, it appears as though the larger stiff spokes of the ksyriums would provide a stiffer ride.

  3. if you buy the shimano road rims (with the paired spoke hubs), i don't know the model but they retail for around 300, those are some of the stiffest rims around. some of my riding buddies that weigh 200+ have riden them for years with no truing; they hardly have any spokes! if you want super light stiff rims, buy zipps (if you have a lot of money) or bontrager race lights (if you have more money than most riders). mavic is more money than it's worth. but you can't go wrong with the paired spoke shimanos.
