Kryptonite lock vulnerablility makes Snopes...

I went around to the LBS where I bought my Kryptonite lock to ask what the
story was for Australian consumers. The answer is they have no idea what's
going on and the distributor has flown off to the States to try to sort

Now, this is equally nuts. People in America are complaining about not
being able to go through their local dealer, since it's an *exchange*
program, meaning you have to be able to send your old lock to Kryptonite.
Now, I don't have any qualms about handing back my old lock in exchange for
a new one but I'll be damned if I'll fork out for the cost of shipping it to
the States. I responded to Kryptonite and I'm awaiting their response. If
they try to play silly buggers then I'll go to Fair Trading or the ACCC.

A post from the Critical Mass mailing list indicates that Kryptonite will be
sending you instructions together with a postage paid envelope to send your
lock and at least one key back to them. I assume this will still apply for
overseas customers' shipping.
