Kryptonite lock replacement question.

I am pretty sure they want you to return all the parts you have enumerated.
I believe they are telling you to keep the mounting hardware that holds the
lock to your bike frame. Your logic about reusing the "U" part makes sense,
but so does your concern about tolerance problems between different
production runs.

Exactly which U-lock do you have? Is it still a current model? My U-locks
were old models (Kryptonite-4s), not even listed as one on there site, and
they said nothing about keeping the U. And they sent me new Us.

My locks are old. Having survived three bikes. Depending on the bike,
I keep my locks in panniers, or handlebar bags. So I completely forgot
the mounting hardare. I think you're right. It also makes more sense.
