  1. Has anybody tried the new South Beach Diet foods by Kraft that are in the
stores now? Just wondered if they were any better than what has been
available before. Most of the food on the shelves aren't worth eating. Would
be nice to have something quick and easy that tasted decent.

I tried a maple nut cereal bar yesterday, I thought it was good, I won't be
eating them everyday, though. DH likes the Kraft Carbwell French dressing
better than the Wishbone 5g carb kind he used to eat, I don't know if that
counts as Southbeach food but it says Southbeach reccommended on the label.

I also tried one of the maple nut cereal bars and thought it was very
good, though somewhat too sweet. Very good for a quick breakfast
replacement or a snack on the go. But while they have only 3g of sugar
alcohol, they do have 9g net carbs, which is pretty high, depending on
what your daily limits are. The Atkins golden oat granola ones have 3g
net, I think and are very good.

7 g sugar, South Beach must be looser about sugar than Atkins is, I don't
think a lower sugar content would have hurt the flavor any at all. I'm
    not
low carb, though, only low spike. I need an occasional snack I can keep
    in
my purse for long shopping days where the only handy place to eat is a
    small
McDs that doesn't carry the salads, so I don't have to abandon my cart in
the middle of the store halfway through and go hit the cooler in my car
    for
    something.

I tend to agree with JC. The human body was designed thousands of years
before food manufacturers came up with their hype.

It seems that the human body takes in three basic matirials for health:
fat, protein, and carbohydrates. We need the fat for joint lubrication and
nerve insulation, we need protein for tissue regetneration, and we need
carbohydrates for energy. Excess carbs are strored as fat, and when the
body can't find enough energy from fat, it turns to other resources in the
    body.

Cereal manufacturers will try to feed you [censored], and in fact, if you follow
their promotions, that's what you will be buying.

Your body survives best on basic meats and green veggies that are available
to you through your local grocery. There's no magic that will make chips or
taters or any fast food GOOD for you; You can eat pizza now and then, but
it won't help you. It's just a comfort food that lives on the sidelines.

    Your body, and your decision.

  4. "Your body, and your decision. "

Then why must guys like you chime in with all kind of dire warnings and
negative comments without even trying one, every time someone asks
about how a new LC product tastes and if anyone has tried them? Yes,
at 9g net carbs, these bars aren't super low carb, but they are a lot
lower carb than regular carb bars. I hardly see them as all that bad
if someone doing LC chooses to use them appropriately.
