As a teenager in 1964 I bought a second hand Alexander road bike (fabulous all Campag groupset). I was told that it originally belonged to a Welsh champion. Many years later I was told that it would have been built by 'Knotty' Alexander of Cardiff, by an old guy who said he used to train with a champion when he lived in Wales. He said Alexander was known as 'Knotty' because he once built a bike with a knot in the cross bar for a local carnival parade.
Does anybody know if it was true?, I've wondered about it for years.
