killer rabbit

Cherry Walk is the section of the Hudson River Greenway from the waste
treatment plant cut-off at 125th street to Riverside Park. Basically, it's
a lane terraced into a sloping embankment of the Henry Hudson Parkway, so
people can bike, jog, fish, make out, paint, or shoot dope or whatever in
peace without scaring the children in the park proper. There may have been
an attempt to plant hedges between the bikeway and the parkway; i don't
think it worked out. Anyway, there must have been a wind-blown hedge seed
or something that landed between the bikeway and the river, so there's the
isolated, wild hedge on that side. Whenever I head south on the bikeway,
when I get to the hedge, it always looks like a topiary rabbit. Fools me
every time. I stop paying attention to everything else and just try to
figure out who clipped this hedge like Bugs Bunny, and why? It isn't
really topiary, but approaching from the north, it looks that way. So
there I was in a daze in 27th gear; fortunately, the northbound rider was
actually paying attention. But instead of flipping me the bird or giving
me the "idiot" look, he smiled and looked as if he knew exactly what was
happening.
