  1. Tuesday was my semi-recovery day.. easy riding with a few sprints thrown in
on the MTB.. cranking home via the boulie (north-south direction) to up the
kms for the day.. I was done with my hard efforts and was taking my time..
I creep up on two guys riding the same direction.. one on and MTB the other
on a roadie.. I pace myself behind them.. catching them on hills and letting
them get away on the downs...

On the last bend (big sweeper) they pick up the pace.. completely dark so I
couldn't tell what effort they were putting in.. I up the pace a little to
catch them.. hang on.. thems are racin each other up this climb!.. ohh
showtime.. full gas.. mtber cracked 1/2 way up.. roadie in my sights..
argh.. 15kgs of MTB grrr.. push push.. catch him about 50m from the top..
pull along side and exchange greetings.. I mention that he put up a good
chase.. which came with a genuinely enthusiastic reply "yeah? want to go
again!?".. I chuckle and tell him I'm headed home, I'm done for the night..

Had a smile on my face the whole way home.. that was really cool... totally
unexpected reply from the guy I chased down.. I'm not sure I'd be so
friendly myself if any ba$#@d on a mtb caught me on a climb while on the
roadie! And for sure I want that rematch!! 🙂

    cheers,
    GPL

Heh, reminds me of my 1st crack on the Mt Buller climb last year. I was
suffering big time about 3/4's up and this kid (read very light) on a
knobbied MTB comes past like I'm standing still! He didn't say anything
and could not have replied if he had due to the effort I was putting
in. I found the situation inspiration. Maybe he was the same?
