  1. Can anyone provide me with the details (ie, start time etc) of all weekend rides form Kennedy's Beach Road Black Rock (Melbourne).

    Cheers,
    Ian

  2. are you talking about rides with the Kennedy bunch, or just the rides that start there, such as the Hell Ride, et al? The guys at Le Knicks (9589 0564) and Kennedy's (9589 3399) will be able to help you out.

The Hell Ride is by far the largest and most infamous, and I'm pretty sure it leaves there at 7:00am Saturday mornings. John's own group only does a couple of week night rides at about 5:30pm

There are other a.m. and p.m. Beach Rd rides

Further to 531Aussie's reply, there's a bunch that leave Kennedy's every Sat & Sun morning at 7.30am (they're the ones that wear the Kennedy gear), usually do 70-80ks. Exception is last Sat of the month, which starts at 7am as it's usually a longer ride (approx 120k).

Sat bunch at 7-30am are hardened riders about 20 or so, ride to Mt Eliza, do Olivers, Humphries Rd and Two Bays Rd (twice up Two Bays) then fast run back to clock tower, last Sat of month add Arthurs Seat to the Route), 2nd group often, but not always, will leave around same time, newer riders or those wanting a recovery ride, head to Frankston, Olivers is optional, regroup at the amenities block in Frankston, cruise back to black Rock.

On Sundays the big group heads out to Mt Eliza extra, plus an extra group leaves at 7-30 of women riders with two or three men "gate keepers", mix of experienced and newer lady riders, they ride to Frankston, Olivers is optional, regroup and return to Kennedy's for coffee and a chat. This group also forms the core of Kennedy's "Pink Inc" Ladies ATB team.

Mid Week Mon Wed & Fri small 8am bunch ride to Port Melbourne and return, easy recovery ride.
Tues & Thursday at 5-30pm training hit out into Port Melbourne, plus a few extra loops under Westgate and past GMH to Citilink offices (each loop extra 10ks). May will add longer Mt Eliza runs for repeat hill sessions and pace line training. Experienced riders welcome.

A lot of people gather at Kennedy's Café (Coffee/Muffins/Sambos during Summer 7 days-Winter 6 days-no coffee Mondays) to chat and plan rides.

Black Rock, with Le Knicks, Watts, Kennedy' and assorted cafe's is a good place to hang out or drop in during the week and see what is coming up and who is in town, often a few celebs and pro or elite riders hang out for a checkup or to talk bike bling and battle scars and you can plan your rides and work out what suits your training or general bike needs.

enjoy, all round they are a freindly bunch and happy to greet new "faces"

PS: Many of Kennedy's "mature" bunch riders also race with Southern Vets.
