New to the forum and new to cycling all together so I apologize beforehand if this is really newbie like.
I'm 17 years of age and always wanted to get into cycling. Watching the Tour this week has made me finally get up and start to look for a bike. I would like something good, but not too pricey. Maybe around / under $1500 or so if that’s at all reasonable. Has to be a road bike, light, and comfortable, nothing chinsey. I have a Cannondale mountain bike right now and like it quite a lot. Any suggestions or comments on where to start or look would be appreciated.

How about you put some high pressure slicks on the MTB and use it on the road? Felts seem popular in the States, I reckon they must be good bikes. But a lot of it boils down to what your local bike shop is selling. Join a club and talk to the riders.
