Hi, I registered here about a year ago or so to help me with a decision on which new bike to get, which I already made.
It took a long time to get back to me.
About me: Instead of driving, I bike places, as long as it is in a reasonable distance. I'm in the Southern California area; an area known for it's nice weather, so why drive when you can bike, and avoid all the traffic.
I have two bikes. One is a Road bike with a mountain bike style handle bars. It's a cruising bike I bought a year ago to bike around town. I bike to work and school with it (I've already graduated college, but I always take a class at the local community colleges). It's a Giant I got on sale for $699. How well do they stand up?
My old bike is a five year old Diamondback Mountain bike I got in '04 for only $300. I used to use that to cruise around town, but I switched to a road bike a year ago. I use it as a back up bike for transportation and my, "Going out to the bars bike", as if I crash or something happens, it's not that expensive to replace.
I've been very busy for the past year, but I'll go on day trips in which I will spend at least a couple hours biking, usually going 40 to 50 miles in a day. Just around town.
I'm averaging about 50 miles a week right now.
