Spoke to a mate today - who has a mate that was recently dazzled by an overseas website offerring extraordinarily low prices on Cannondale, Specialized, Trek and Cervelo bikes. The site, under the name 'webikes.com' has since been pulled down, but not before this silly [censored] lost $3,600.
Now, as dumb as it appears on the surface, underneath runs methodical cunning. This scam-bag was liasing daily via email and answering bike-spec related questions as eloquently as any LBS - even to the point where he was adjusting inividual prices on his "stock" regarding wheel upgrades etc.
So yeah, although I wouldn't fall for this type of thing some folken, evidently, do. I've done a little searching for this [censored], and it appears his scam template turns up regularly under frequently changing addresses.
Spread the word, because naive dummies have feelings too. If it seems too good to be true...well, you know.
