  1. Maurice Garin pushed off from Nantes, 102 years ago today. Eighteen
    hours later after 471km he arrived in Paris as the winner of the
    first ever Tour de France. He had some time to spare, his margin over
    second placed Lucien Pothier was almost three hours.
