  1. Did anyone catch Jane Pauley's show tonite? It was about obese kids, and
the fact that one out of 4 kids are obese. Sad, but true!
Since I started Low-carb,,,,my granddaughter (6) has lost 5 lbs., and my
grandson has lost 4 lbs, he is 9.
I just got rid of the white bread, buns, sweetened cereal, french fries,
gravies,,,,and yes, I do give them carbs,,,,7-grain bread, high fibre
cereals,,,,and fresh fruit and veggies. I got rid of soft drinks, juice,
junk food,,,,,,the kid's are less hungry,,,,and they are starting to make
    healthy choices of their own.
It does help that we go for walks after supper,,,,,and we are more active.
I should state, that the 6 yr. old girl was 99.5 lbs,,,,,,and the boy who is
9, was 125 lbs. She is now 94 lbs, and he is 121 lbs. It's a family
affair,,,and we 'do' control what kids eat,,,,,to a certain extent. I want
to give them good habits now, while they are still young.

  2. Didn't catch JP's show, but I'd heard the previews for it. Sorry I missed
    it.

You are doing a wonderful thing for your grandkids, Sandy! I really commend
you for teaching your grandchildren about how to make healthy food choices.
I think it is perfectly fine, too, to allow them the whole grains, high
fiber cereals, fruit, and veggies. Children's metabolisms are generally in
better shape, IMHO, than adults like us. I really think that they NEED
those beneficial carbs for their growth. But always in moderation!

    Again, IMHO!

  3. My youngest son went from 230 to 195 due to the change in food stock in our
house. He's 19 and I started low carbing in January.
