  1. I only started cycling last year and unfortunatly, due to an arthritic problem developing; I had to stop cycling for 3 months. Last Friday I got up in the morning 6am, to cycle to work and it was pissing down here in Scotland. For about 3 mins I considered just sitting in front of the tv as I only live a 5 minute walk away from my workplace; but try to cycle between 5 to 8 and a half miles each morning. Decided to cycle - man, the first mile was [censored]; but after that wow. Done the full 8.5 miles absoloutly soaked, but the ride was one of the best ever. When in the shower at work, reflecting on it - I have vowed to never, ever miss a ride due to the rain. Think I am finally starting to get the bug back🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

  2. Congratulations and welcome back to the fold. You will see that your desire to ride will put you into plenty of funny situations, most of which you will look back to somewhat fondly...

You did switch from slicks to rain tires right. Just leave a little more stopping distance, I've ridden in the rain before, infortunatly it was on the Katy trail, which is crushed limestone, made for a nice mess to clean up...my bike, my wifes bike, both my kids bikes.....Blew a Sat.

  4. not crazy at all. i'll tell you...

i keep getting advice and strange looks from "experts" who think riding a bike will make my bad back worse -- in fact, on the bike is the only time the back doesn't hurt! so the 'structural' health issue is a familiar one for me, too....

except for the days when the surface conditions were just too hazardous, i rode my bike all winter; missed about 2, 2-1/2 weeks, maybe. it hurt a bit, and i'm glad i didn't have my OLD commute distance (50+ minutes in winter), but i set a new personal best by riding to work at -5dg F.

welcome back to the mania, and keep on spinning!
