Pulled the junk bike apart today. Found some odd things which I suspect are
down to it being an old bike. I pulled out the loose cotter and tried
banging it in again, but it rotated when I whacked it and that bollocksed
it. Anyone got experience with these things (yes I looked at Sheldon's
article). Oddball forks and front hub and I found evidence of pinstriping
under the masking tape and dodgy black paint.

Cotter pins.....ecchhhhh....... 🙄
If possible, take the bike/cranks down to Abbotsford Cycles. And fix/or replace....
