Left around 8:20 with stiff Nor'Westerly helping me on my way (the trip is mainly south). Get there, do my two hours of consulting time for my students and get on the bike to head home. The wind had done a 180 degree turn (that's pi radians to me) and blew me all the way back. Average speed over the distance was 35.8kph - not bad for a commute!
Well, I had to tell someone about such a good ride...

Unhappily, the traffic was fairly free flowing so no grinning and waving at fools in cages. That is a nice feeling though, riding past the stuck traffic leading into the city - a cyclist's schadenfreude.

Nice. Living south of work in Perth sucks (blows?). It's a pleasant change to go in the other direction. Make sure you savour the moment ;-)

There was a story in the paper a few years a ago about a guy who lived in Claremont, worked in Mundaring and commuted by bicycle. That would be fun. Headwind both ways every day in the summer months, and bonus hill in the morning.
