  1. I am not a runner, but IT (Iliotibial) band topics appear on this
    group now and then.

Can IT band syndrome cause a clicking or snapping feeling or sensation
when walking? After a while, this is painful.

    Background:

    Age: 54
    First noticed problem: 8/2004
ACL surgery: 1/2004 (ACL tore in 1967!)
Cartilage removed (1976) from inside (medial) part of knee. The
snapping is located on outside part of knee that is associated IT band
    syndrome pain.

I have seen my knee surgeon about this in September and November. He
can tell that the IT band is rubbing. He gave me stretches, and my
physical therapist has me rolling on a Styrofoam tube. The surgeon
says to expect results in months, not weeks. The surgeon did not say
that the IT band syndrome caused the clicking. I am wondering whether
I have IT band syndrome + something else.

I have read up on IT band syndrome on the WWW and news groups. I have
not noticed any discussions that have associated clicking or snapping
    with IT band syndrome.

    Thanks.
