.... well, it's never over. This is definitely the most exciting TDF
ever, with the most violent back and forth lead changes ever, even
after the race is over!
Stage 11: Landis takes the yellow for the first time, as expected.
Stage 13: Pereiro takes yellow after the peloton allows a nearly 30
minute breakaway. Landis is roundly criticized for allowing this to
happen. Landis says he purposely gave up the yellow and that he'll get
it back later.
Stage 15: Landis does indeed take the yellow back. The same critics now
applaud Landis' brilliant strategy in Stage 13 and declare the race all
but won.
Stage 16: Landis pulls one of the biggest chokes ever and loses 8
minutes. The same critics bash Landis for losing 8 minutes (as if he
wasn't trying) and declare the race lost for him, wondering about his
strategy in Stage 13 again.
Stage 17: Landis pulls one of the biggest comebacks ever and gains
nearly 8 minutes back. The same critics say this is the greatest single
day performance in modern racing and declare the race all but won. The
critics slam the other racers for not putting more time on Landis in
Stage 16 (as if they weren't trying).
Stage 19: Landis officially regains yellow in the ITT.
After the race: Media starts predicting how long it will be before
L'Equipe begins printing doping allegations.
Current leader: Pereiro is in virtual yellow as Landis has a positive
test for testoterone. But Landis is sipping a beer right now, planning
on how to mount his next comeback. Who knows how many more lead changes
there will be!
