Yes, a few friends are doing something like this (driving to Brighton
on Saturday, staying the night, gettting the coach to Clapham and
staying over again on Sunday).

But with 30,000 (?) entrants, there's a practical limit to this
approach as well!

I saw a few novel solutions last year; A large pick up truck absolutely
filled with bikes like a totter's cart (all the riders presumably on
the train) and two riders riding 3 bikes whilst the third went up on
the train to get the car. They will probably spoil the fun even more
next year and say no-one is allowed on the train with lycra. I have
taken a bike to Clapham on my back sans wheels before (you can imagine
the jokes my SO got the next day travelling up with just the wheels)

How about sending a cheap, lightweight bike bag and couple of spanners
to a handy Brighton post office. Sent Post Restante the week before
the event it will be there awaiting collection on the day. Ten minutes
and the bike is bagged and magically transformed into luggage, which
should be fine for the train journey back up to the smoke.

Good plan but.....

L2B is on a Sunday. Post Offices are shut on Sundays.
