Hello,
I am a beginner 16 year old road biker and want to get really good. I am 6'2 150lbs and am very athletic. Biking and playing guitar are my favorite things to do. I have started doing 25 mile rides everyday for about 2 weeks now and can do it in 1 hour and 23 mins and only am a little tired. Every day the time goes down. It is mostly up hill and flat road. Is this pretty good? What should I do to start getting better and entering races? There is a race near by called the Tour de Solomons in Maryland which is 100k(mainly flat)/50k(mainly up hill). I would love to enter it with a chance to place next or the following year. Any advise that could help me reach my goal would be appreciated? Also, are there any medical universities that also have bike teams?
Thanks Joe

I suggest you read some books or get a coach. A couple of my favorite books are:
Cyclists Training Bible - Joe Friel
Ultimate Ride - Chris CarmichaelLots of Universities have cycling teams. Go to the Universities website and snoop around. Or try googling "XXU cycling team" or something.
I didn't even know they university I attend had a cycling team until I read about it in the school paper. I'm glad I read the paper that day...
