  1. I'm trying to gain weight. I'm keeping a spreadsheet of my food,
caloric and protien intake. Over the past 4 days I have consumed on
average ~1400 calories per day in excess of my BMR, my average protein
intake is ~130 grams per day. Of the items I consume, I find it most
impressive how much calories there are in oil. I only consume plant
oils such as olive oil, 2-4 tbsp per day, as a dressing for steamed
eggs and potatoes, which, as a hot or cold salad, have been my main
source of excess carbohydrates and protein, in addition to other meals.
I never consume added animal fats, though I have been eating 100-150
grams of cheddar daily (besides the eggs), but not any butter or such.

What do you guys think of the following; I'm tempted by the idea of
consuming a reasonable amount of oil to get me to my BMR asap so that
as much as possible of the additional calories and protein I consume go
directly towards weight gain. I'm thinking of perhaps consuming
sunflower oil, as it's rich in vitamin E and PUFA.

If you're going to start loading up on oils, my personal feeling
(INADAIDPOOTV)[1] is to start taking an oil high in omega-3 fatty acids.
Flax seed oil and/or fish oils are loaded with these. Personally, I buy
Udo's Oil and use a tablespoon in my protein shakes.

    Selah.

  3. Good idea! I recommend 2 quarts of 10/40 everyday. It does a body good.
