  1. After losing 51 lbs, my blood pressure was measured today at 128/72. I
used to have maybe 145/90 or so when I was fat.

I lost weight via eating less and exercise, the oldd fashioned way.

My dad and my mom's mom both had hypertension. I am 32 years old now.

    Two questions:

    1. Is this blood pressure good in the sense that I can rest on my
laurels and not work on making it better somehow.

    2. Is the lower blood pressure going to automatically stay low like
this if I continue to walk and maintain my normal weight and watch my
    sodium?

    Thanks

    Dave Whittaker

Good for you. The 72 is very good (80 being avg.), the 128 is only very
slightly above the 120 average. Certainly within the bounds of common
daily variance and physical circumstance. (BP changes throughout the day
as well as with physical exertion.)

I'd recommend continuing with moderate exercise - like 3-5 times per
week of about 30 minutes. Get the heart pumping and the lungs breathing
    more deeply.

Likely for quite a while. BP does tend to begin to elevate as we pass
    middle age.

As long as you are eating less, the exercise is not essential for weight
    loss.

Out of curiosity, how do you know exactly how much you are eating?

I'd recommend 6-7 times per week, walking briskly, more like 40
    minutes.
