i walked whin rigg & ilgill head a few weeks ago & was going to round them
off with a walk to irton pike along the ridge but lots of very big cows with
calfs made it clear that there would be trouble if i walked throught them so
i chickened out.

Yes, there were lots of cows around when we were there. Perhaps you
should have girded your loins and followed some of the cow advice given
on this board in previous postings! I think that would have made a
superb ridge walk, I might try it from Irton Pike end next time I do
Whin/Illgill for a change.
