  1. Hello I just started getting into cycling, But I dont always have time to ride, so I recently purchased a trainer to hook my bike up to so i can ride at night. I'm looking for some apps to track my speed, power, dist, etc,, I really like strava, and roadbike pro for my iphone, can any one make some suggestions?

  2. I have used Wahoo fitness / wahoo ANT+ case with my iphone as a backup on a few occasions for all the metrics you listed. A pretty decent app for being free. I have Strava, but have not used it as a training app so I cannot give a comparison.

  3. It's not clear what you're looking for. There are certainly smartphone apps out there to do things like track workouts, track calories, help time interval sessions and as Felt points out even apps that can read ANT+ signals from measurement devices and display and or record the data on your phone. But any app that displays data like HR, speed, or power needs a suitable sensor mounted on the bike to provide that information. Outdoors, Strava uses GPS in the absence of on the bike sensors to measure position, speed and elevation then uses that to estimate power (and don't make too much of those Strava power estimates, especially when it's not climbing a steep hill). Indoors, even if you can receive the GPS signals you're not moving anywhere so your GPS speed is zero, altitude is constant and everything derived from it is zero.

So you might get an app, but if you want to measure those things you'll have to equip your bike with suitable sensors in which case it's probably just simpler to buy an inexpensive cycling computer and not go the app route.

But if you're looking for fitness tracking apps or apps to help you with things like interval timing or dietary tracking there are lots of those out there.

sorry I was not clear, Im looking for an app, for tracking my the work I do with a cycle trainer(stationary bike) I already have speed/cadence sensors

  5. Endomondo will do it. For stationary work, you can manually enter the duration/distance for a workout, and then you can log-in to the website to look over the statistics for the last week, month or year and more. Try the free app first--it may do all that you need.
