Hmmmmm... That's close to how we/I make our sandwiches... well... actually,
the one made abroad is the overkill version of mine. LOL

I caramelize onions then set them aside. On the inside of two pieces of
bread I spread lightly with Miracle Whip (Light, usually), then spoon on the
onions and put the cheese in place, close the bread slices together.
Meanwhile, I melt a little bit of butter in a skillet, lay the sandwiches in
the skillet and lightly toast on both sides and serve!

Good, for sure. At our place you won't get the MW 'cuz there's never
any in the house, but in the summertime you will get slices of a
just-picked backyard tomato. We skillet-toast the sandwich halves
open-face to make it easy to add the tomato.
