    From the current issue of Cycle Sport, quoted from Basso prior to the Giro:
    "I like Simoni and tried to get him to join CSC last year because he's such
    a tough nut. He says what he thinks and races with his heart. He often gets
    criticized for it, but he is always up there at the Giro and will definitely
    be strong in the final week in the mountains this year."

    Not sure if they conducted the interview in English or Italian. Difficult to
    imagine Basso, in his broken English, using the expression "tough nut".
    Maybe it was done in Italian, and "tough nut" was a loose translation of
    something entirely different!
