  1. Hello everyone, I'm looking for information and personal
experiences (if you'd be so kind to share) from those of you
who have had a Parotid Tumor requiring surgery. My mother
has just been diagnosed with this condition and is awaiting
an appointment for needle biopsy. Besides the possibility of
cancer being a major concern, she was told that if surgery
is required (and will be if cancerous), there is a chance
that the nerve in the face could be severed leaving her with
partial facial paralysis. Depending on the size and depth of
the tumor, sometimes severing this nerve in unavoidable. If
any of you in this group have relevant information, advice
or have had this surgery (good or bad results),please
contact me and share your experiences. Or if you are a
doctor and have wisdom to share, it would be greatly
appreciated. Please feel free to e-mail me direct:
[email hidden] Thank you for in advance for your help.
    Sincerely, Chris.

The best treatment for almost all parotid tumours is
surgery. The risk to the facial nerve is small. But it's
impossible to know the correct management without a
diagnosis, and you need the biopsy for that.
