  1. what over the counter products are good for keeping away
infections. I have a bad tooth that needs some attention, in
the years I've had problems with it, no infection has ever
spread, it seems to just stay with the tooth, I can't
afford/won't go to the dentist to have this fixed, I have a
serious phobia and last time I had to go, I freaked out.

  2. You can go to a health food store and get "myrrh" tincture.
You can also get homeopathic preparations - good one is
"Traumeel". Also, rinsing your mouth with salt and water
    with help.

Still, it's a good idea to go to dentist if you want to keep
your teeth in your mouth - even if your teeth are in great
condition, it's advisable to have them cleaned and this
doesn't need to be either painful or terrifying experience.

You may consider using hypnosis - both to help you deal with
your phobia, with any anxiety and/or pain; and to help heal
and/or maintain the health of your teeth and gums.

  4. Jay, in the old days, before antibiotics, people DIED from
infected teeth. I had a boyfriend who spent 3 nights in the
hospital with an IV antibiotic drip because of an infected
wisdom tooth, and by the time he was convinced to go to the
dentist, his face was swollen, and the dentist took one look
at him and said "YOU NEED TO BE ADMITTED ASAP!!!!" Sure,
death is cheaper, but unless you are suicidal, you should
see a doctor and get it taken care of before it DOES get
infected enough to kill you. Good luck.

  5. Get over your "freak outs" and go to a dentist. Sucks, but I know of no
other solution. Been there, done that.
