This is something which has bothered me for a long time.
When riding on the staionary trainer, I cannot achieve anywhere near the HR that I can when outdoors on the road.
I have reached a point where I have decided that intervals may be needed to get my form where it needs to be for the big TTs but after trying my first indoor interval session last night I was wasted pretty quickly on a fairly low heartrate (no greater than 92% of threshold). I'm normally an okay TTer for sydney A grade over shorter distances (up to 30km).
Have people had similar experiences on their trainers? How does a trainer compare to rollers for this sort of thing?
I may have to ditch trying to judge effort by HR and concentrate on gear and rpm instead. Is this a good idea?
Cheers
