  1. Does anyone know if the race course for IMAZ will be the same for 2006
    as in 2005?

I believe the free CompuTrainer course is out of date, but I'm looking
to build one based on last year's course and with some GPS captures from
    another rider's ride last year.

    Thanks!

  2. Haven't seen anything yet about a finalized course, though what I have
heard is that they will adjust it somewhat to eliminate what turned out
to be a confusing (for some) portion towards the end of the leg.

If I see something I'll let you know....will see you out there next
    April!

  3. For those interested in training on a simulated IMAZ course... I have
created a 3DC CompuTrainer file based on a GPS capture from JNielsen
from last years IMAZ who has also posted the trail capture on
    MotionBased.

The 3DC file for the main 35Mi loop can be found at:

    http://www.woodruffs.org/public-files/3dc/IMAZ Loop1.3dc

There are some overlap areas on the course where the rider goes over
some grass areas in the display and I'll work on fixing the underlying
GPS log and rebuild it sometime later -- but this version definitely
works to get a sense of the vertical climb (and descents) throughout the
    course.

  4. I just noticed that the 2006 course has been updated on the Ironman
    Arizona website.

They simplified the loops - 3 loops still be extends to Shea Blvd. on 87
and the in/out section looks simpler. It will be interesting to capture
the profile for the extra section on 87.
